Following the tragic events of February 2024, the <strong>renovation of the building in the Campanar district<\/strong> of Valencia is not only a reconstruction project, but has also become a benchmark for engineering and passive safety throughout Spain.<\/p>\n<p>At FAVEKER\u00ae, we had the opportunity to participate in this <a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/renovation\/\"><strong>rehabilitation<\/strong><\/a><strong> project<\/strong> by supplying the building\u2019s new outer skin. From the outset, the objective was clear: to transform the envelope into an impenetrable barrier through a <a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/ventilated-facade\/\"><strong>ceramic ventilated facade<\/strong><\/a><strong> system<\/strong> designed under strict fire protection criteria.[\/vc_column_text]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a59560f3{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a59560f3\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a59561e6{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a59561e6\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"left\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 28px;\">Passive Safety of the New Campanar Building Facade: An Integrated Fire Protection System<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a595628f{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a595628f\"><\/div>[vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;fs-16&#8243;]The effectiveness of a facade in the event of a fire does not depend solely on the external cladding, but rather on the <strong>performance of the entire system.<\/strong> The solution implemented on the Campanar building is an <strong>integrated passive safety<\/strong> <strong>system<\/strong> comprised of five layers that work together:[\/vc_column_text]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a5956324{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a5956324\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>1. Ceramic Panels in the Reconstruction of the Campanar Building<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a59563d4{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a59563d4\"><\/div>[vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;fs-16&#8243;]The first protective barrier, completely non-combustible. In this case, it is the <a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/products\/ceramic\/ga20\/\"><strong>GA20<\/strong><\/a><strong> Campanar<\/strong> panel. <strong>Extruded porcelain<\/strong> is a material that does not contribute to fire spread and offers low water absorption, high density and excellent dimensional stability\u2014qualities that make it ideal for providing the utmost protection. In addition, the extrusion process allows the cross-section of each panel to be shaped, enabling the development of specific geometries tailored to the project.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the Campanar building, the panels were <a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/products\/ceramic\/custom\/\"><strong>custom-designed<\/strong><\/a> by FAVEKER\u00ae in collaboration with the architecture studio ARQUEHA, adjusting their proportions, relief and modulation to the new interpretation of the building\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/products\/finishes\/\"> volume<\/a>. This level of customization turns the ceramic skin into an active element of the architectural composition, capable of adding rhythm and depth. As a result, beyond <strong>safety<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/blog\/energy-rehabilitation-building\/\">energy efficiency<\/a>, this selection also provides an attractive and contemporary look.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a595646d{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a595646d\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a02. Specific and Custom Mechanical Anchoring<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a59564ec{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a59564ec\"><\/div>[vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;fs-16&#8243;]This new <a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/products\/fixing-systems\/\">fixing system<\/a>, called <strong>FTS508<\/strong>, was developed specifically for this panel by <strong>Saltoki-Louvelia<\/strong>. It consists of a 40&#215;40 tubular vertical framework that is attached to the wall using support and retention brackets. Horizontal profiles are then installed over these vertical elements, followed by the fixing clips for the <strong>GA20 Campanar ceramic panels<\/strong>. This layer is completed with the<strong> metallic substructure of the facade<\/strong>, which forms a solid framework that maintains the system\u2019s integrity. It was designed according to strict criteria for <strong>fire<\/strong> <strong>safety, thermal and acoustic comfort, and long-lasting quality.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text]<style>.ld_spacer_6a1e2a5956568{height:32px;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"ld-empty-space ld_spacer_6a1e2a5956568\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>3. Essentially, these <strong>obstacles act as compartmentalization or firestop<\/strong> <strong>barriers<\/strong> that expand to seal the ventilated cavity, interrupting the chimney effect and preventing <a href=\"https:\/\/faveker.com\/en\/blog\/fire-prevention-in-building-design\/\">fire from spreading<\/a> along the exterior of the facade.
