ISO 50001 certification is an international standard designed to establish, implement and maintain an Energy Management System (EnMS) within an organisation. In 2023, we obtained ISO 50001 certification for the Energy Management System at GRES ARAGÓN’s production plants in Alcañiz for the first time. In June 2026, the certification was renewed and its scope extended to the FAVEKER plant in Alcorisa. With this certification, we continue to promote efficient energy management with the aim of reducing energy consumption and minimising our environmental impact.
For more than two decades, GRES ARAGÓN has been investing in the replacement of its main natural gas-consuming thermal equipment, namely dryers and kilns. These investments have significantly improved the energy efficiency of our production processes.
In addition to major investments in new production lines, GRES ARAGÓN has implemented a range of initiatives in recent years to improve energy efficiency, including:
• Installation of two photovoltaic systems for self-consumption, with a combined installed capacity of 1,212 kWp across two production plants.
• Replacement of kiln burners to increase combustion air temperature and reduce natural gas consumption.
• Renewal of the vehicle fleet from diesel to electric, including an electric van, forklifts and LGVs (internal plant logistics vehicles).
• Replacement of air compressors to reduce electricity consumption.
• Replacement of combustion-based domestic hot water systems with electric equipment.
• Upgrade of indoor and outdoor lighting to LED technology.
• Replacement of low-efficiency motors with high-efficiency motors for high-consumption applications.
• Energy audits at all production plants.
