Investigation area Sant Pau Hospital

Outstanding ceramic sunscreen for the Research Institute of the Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona, made of brick-colour ceramic tiles in line with the original style of the ancient modernist complex. The original colour of the tiles has been reproduced also in the inside of the sunscreen. This was the winning project in the Architecture category of the ASCER Ceramic Awards that highlighted the unique application of the ceramic and the careful integration of an avant-garde building in an existing modernist complex. Extruded, glazed and fired at 1.300ºC ceramic tiles are the star of a building which is a magnificent landmark in the architecture of Barcelona.
